Why RFID Will Make Your Holidays Merrier
As you prepare for the busiest time of the year, here are some reasons for adopting RFID before the holiday season.
Enhance your customer service
Customers are now use to online quick search which is becoming expected at the brick and mortar store. RFID enables daily stock takes which give you up-to-date items' state, items on hand and their location.
Reduce shrink
Holiday season is known for the highest amount of inventory movement accompanied by the highest percentage of shrinkage. With daily or weekly RFID counting, you are able to reduce the window of time for an item gone missing. In addition to knowing the characteristics of the missing item, you are now able to know the date, time, and person who scanned it last; important information for loss-recovery. Having an RFID system in place also acts as a theft deterrent in of itself; it shows you're constantly tracking your inventory and that theft won't go unnoticed.
Build intelligence
RFID enables you to gather valuable data you did not have before. Using pad scanners on the sales floor, you can find out how many times an item was shown for example. This helps you discover best selling items - which items were over or under-stocked. It can also help you understand which salesperson does best at which line.
RFID Helps Jeweler after Burglary
Challenge: A retailer based in Arizona, had a break-in back in May. The burglar robbed two showcases filled with chains and watches. The jeweler faced the challenge of accounting for the lost items in a timely manner and delivering accurate proof to their insurance agency in order to recover the losses.
Solution: Luckily, the watches were tagged with TJS's RFID technology. This allowed the jeweler to quickly scan over their existing inventory of watches. Normally this would take hours, but RFID helped cut the time of counting by over half. Since ZeroShrink is integrated with their Logic Mate system, they were able to update their POS of the missing items immediately. They were also able to produce accurate proof of the theft by comparing a physical count variance report, which details the stolen items, to an inventory report prior to the burglary which showed the items were previously there.
Benefits:
- Speed and accuracy to count inventory
- Detailed reports to know which items are missing
- Accurate proof for insurance agencies
